Cake toppers, common in weddings and typically a miniature model of the bride and groom, have been in existence for at least the past century. They became widely popular in the 1920's when Sears & Roebuck catalog featured an entire page of toppers for order in 1927. There are so many stories on how these came about, however the most common one is that centuries ago, there was a baker’s daughter who was about to be married had wished to have a perfect emblem of her marriage. She asked her father to help her find that perfect symbol, and low and behold we have the cake topper! Today toppers are not only of the bride and groom, but come in various themes, shapes, sizes and materials. They are usually removed and saved after the event as treasured mementos by the bride and groom. Etsy.com is such a great place to find them! Cute, huh? Happy Wednesday! xoxo, Julie
