Confetti Eggs

I love Mexican traditions! They are always so fun, festive, and colorful, and I really can't get enough. I first experienced the Mexican tradition of confetti eggs while attending third grade in Lake Jackson, TX, a town that really embraces the Mexican culture. I loved that you could make a beautiful treasure out of something that you thought was trash (egg shell), and then turn it in to a game where you can 'gift' a wish! So with Easter approaching, I'm getting a head start and starting to carefully crack my eggs in the morning making a hole at the bottom, then washing them and putting them to the side so I can have plenty shells to make confetti eggs later in April! I went ahead and made confetti out of left over scraps of ribbon, construction and wrapping paper, and some clean pieces of foil! Thanks to Martha Stewart's website (link below), you can learn the steps to making your own!  Happy Wednesday! xoxo, Julie

Green Tea

I ventured over to one of my favorite places today for lunch, Whole Foods, and picked up some green tea (Whole Foods 365 Organic Green Tea bags 80ct to be exact.) I've been meaning to cut out soft drinks and cut back on coffee, and I'm finally ready! Green tea is a perfect subsitute because it has all of the caffeine that I crave and sort of a bitter after taste, but with a ton of antioxidants that are great for you! Plus you can drink it hot or make it into an iced drink depending on your mood. I'm drinking a hot cup right now with a dash of cinnamon and tablespoon of organic honey, and I am already hooked. Read all about it in the link below! Happy Monday! xoxo, Julie

Outdoor Veggie Garden

The weather is so gorgeous here in Louisiana and there is no better time than right this second to plant a veggie garden! For $20 total (YAY) I was able to purchase Cherry Tomato, Roma Tomato, Jalapeno, Bell Pepper and Banana Pepper plants at Home Depot down the street! I'm ready to plant everything in the backyard, but in true "how do I make this cuter than my neighbor's garden" fashion, I searched for creative ways to mark each plant.  I found the pics below, umm...too adorable! I already have paint and some rocks scattered in the backyard, so cannot wait to get started on this!!! Hopefully all of the veggies will grow in time for a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta! Happy Wednesday! xoxo, Julie

Birthday Banner

My friend's birthday is around the corner and I'm planning to do something extra special for his day! Amongst other things I decided to make a personalized banner for his living room! I wikipedia'd the day he was born and found a list of celebs born on this day, special events, etc.! I plan to make a banner similar to the one below out of construction paper, ribbon and HAPPY BIRTHDAY letters printed from my computer, but will add a few extra squares with pictures of famous people and events that relate to his special day!  Happy Tuesday! xoxo, Julie
