As the experts say, today it is possible to recognize two main distinct streams in Chinese contemporary art, one may be called “Chinese pop” and the other “Chinese calligraphy and traditional painting”. Yun-Fei Ji belongs for sure to the second stream! He is a Chinese artist, born in Beijing in1963 and moved to New York during the 80s. Trough his paints he tells stories and shows issues that are still perceived as critical in China, such as turbulent historical events and the Cultural Revolution. For painting, Yun-Fei Ji uses handmade rice paper and translucent ink or paint based on natural pigments.
Come dicono gli esperti, oggi è possible riconoscere due distinte correnti nell’arte contemporanea cinese: una che può essere chiamata “Chinese Pop” e l’altra, invece, “Calligrafia cinese e dipinti tradzionali”. Yun-Fei Ji appartiene sicuramente a questa seconda corrente! È un artista cinese, nato a Pechino nel 1963 e trasferitosi a New York negli anni Ottanta. Attraverso I suoi dipinti racconta storie e mostra questioni che tutt’oggi sono percepite come critiche in Cina, ad esempio la storia turbolenta del paese e la Rivoluzione Culturale. Per dipingere, Yun-Fei Ji utilizza carta di riso fatta a mano e inchostro traslucente o colori a base di pigmenti naturali.
