In honor of Cinco de Mayo on Thursday, I thought I would get an early start on the festivities and post a how-to on making paper flowers. Paper flowers is a popular tradition for Mexican holidays like Cinco de Mayo and Dia de los Muertos. They were used to decorate churches, tombs, alters, weddings, etc. in times of the year when natural flowers weren't available, and continue to be a popular Mexican decoration today. Here is a great background on them: http://www.mexican-folk-art-guide.com/mexican-paper-flowers.html. And here is a very friendly how-to on making them! http://kindawonderful.typepad.com/pink_paper_peppermints/2008/05/crafty-flowers.html
