Nike Savvas has become one of Australia's most successful contemporary artists, thanks to her installation “Atomic: full of love, full of wonder”, 2005. In her room size installation a shimmering haze of vibrating coloured balls suggests the very atoms that are the fundamental structural units of all things. It's like walking into a room of giant hundreds and thousands. Or staring through the bubbles of an enormous glass of multi-coloured soda. As you move closer, your eyes play tricks, your sense of perspective abandons you. How close am I? Or far? Your hand involuntarily stretches out to stop yourself walking into the artwork.

É come camminare attraverso una stanza di centinaia di giaganti. O osservare le bolle di un enorme bicchiere di soda multicolore. Appena ti avvicini, gli occhi iniziano ad ingannarti, e il tuo senso della prospettiva ti abbandona. Quanto sono vicino? Quanto lontano? Involontariamente ti rendi conto che ti fermi per evitare di entrare nell’opera d’arte.
